What is a drumline?

A "drumline" is defined as a group of drummers/percussionists that perform music in a unison and/or interconnected format. Historically, a drumlines primary role was involved within the marching within the military, however modern drumlines have evolved to include a wide variety of settings including standstill, dance, and other additions that create unique additions to performances and purpose.

When people think drumline, they mostly envision a standard set of popular instruments such as Snares, Multi-Tenors, Single Tenors, Bass Drums, and Cymbals. Different cultures throughout the world utilize different instruments from their regions to create their unique styles that may serve multiple purposes beyond normal performance purposes.

Snare Drum

After spending countless hours searching for information on various topics, and frequently getting frustrated, an idea was born; A one-stop location to find anything related to marching percussion in an easy to navigate location.  

Single Tenor
